Article: A House Divided

A House Divided

A House Divided

October 5, 2018

THE TEXAS VS. OU  GAME HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BIG DEAL AT OUR HOUSE AND HAS BECOME A PART OF OUR FAMILY TRADITIONS.

Our Tradition

My mom, Kit, was born and raised in Oklahoma, where she attended the University of Oklahoma. Needless to say, she’s a HUGE Sooners fan.  Each year during the Red River Showdown, she burns a red candle that’s in the shape of Oklahoma. She claims it’s friendly, but she always manages to find a place for it on the console right in front of the game. In addition to watching my mom’s candle flicker, there’s a family- friendly wager on the outcome of the game.

My sister and I, however, graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and, of course, root for the Longhorns.

No matter where we are in the world watching the game, we all manage to call each other after every touch down or critical play in the game. Once it’s over then, of course, the loser usually goes silent.

Our Texas/OU Pie Pops are available individually or as a duo. Enjoy the, beginning Friday, October 5th.

This Weekend Only: TX/OU Pie Pops

For this year’s Red River Showdown, we thought it would be fun to offer our competing Texas/OU for another other families who have similar traditions to ours. A house divided always makes an interesting get together no matter what, so we hope these alleviate some loss on either side.

Get them in store starting Friday at our Burnet location. They'll be offered at both South Lamar and Burnet on game day.

Here's to a great game!  May the best team win! ( Go Horns!!)

With love,

Amanda
